Why It Matters

Why Choose Dallas
Dentique

Saving Your Natural Tooth Is Always the First Choice

At Dallas Dentique, we believe that no restoration — no matter how advanced — fully replicates the function and feel of your natural tooth. Endodontic care (root canal therapy) is the most effective way to eliminate tooth pain, stop infection, and preserve the tooth you were born with.

Dr. Farahani approaches every root canal with precision and patience. Using modern rotary instruments and digital imaging, treatment is completed comfortably in one or two appointments — and for most patients at our Preston Road office, it’s far less eventful than they anticipated.

When Is Root Canal Treatment Needed?

A root canal becomes necessary when the soft tissue inside your tooth (the pulp) becomes infected or inflamed. This can happen due to deep decay that has reached the inner chamber, a cracked or fractured tooth, repeated procedures on the same tooth, or trauma or injury.

Left untreated, pulp infection spreads — leading to abscess, bone loss, and tooth loss. Early endodontic treatment stops that cascade and saves the tooth.

What to Expect

After applying local anesthetic, Dr. Farahani removes the infected pulp, cleans and shapes the root canals, and seals the tooth. Most patients feel no more discomfort than a routine filling. A crown is typically placed afterward to restore full chewing strength.

Recovery

Most patients return to normal activity the same day. Mild soreness for 2–3 days is common and managed easily with over-the-counter medication. With a crown, the treated tooth can last a lifetime.

Dallas Dentique serves patients from Preston Hollow, Plano, Frisco, Richardson, and across North Dallas. If you’re experiencing tooth pain or sensitivity, call us at (972) 850-2900 for a same-day evaluation.

Endodontic Care — Frequently Asked Questions

Is a root canal painful?

Most patients are surprised by how comfortable modern root canal treatment is. With effective local anesthesia, the procedure itself is no more painful than getting a filling. Any soreness afterward is mild and typically resolves within a few days with over-the-counter pain relievers.

How do I know if I need a root canal?

Common signs include persistent toothache, prolonged sensitivity to heat or cold, discoloration of the tooth, swelling or tenderness in the gums, or a recurring pimple on the gum line. Some teeth needing root canals cause no symptoms at all — which is why regular X-rays matter. Dr. Farahani can evaluate you promptly if you have any concerns.

How long does the procedure take?

Most root canals at Dallas Dentique are completed in one appointment of 60–90 minutes. Severely curved canals or complex infections may require a second visit. We’ll give you a clear timeline before we begin.

Do I need a crown after a root canal?

In most cases, yes. Once the pulp is removed, the tooth becomes more brittle. A crown restores full strength, protects the tooth from fracture, and ensures a natural appearance. Dr. Farahani will coordinate crown placement so your treatment is complete.

What happens if I wait and don’t treat the infection?

A tooth infection does not resolve on its own. Without treatment, it spreads to surrounding bone and adjacent teeth, can form a painful abscess, and eventually results in tooth loss. Early intervention with a root canal is almost always the simpler, less expensive path.
